Yair Rodríguez was a dangerous test, but the question many are asking after Alexander Volkanovski’s dominate performance at UFC 290 is, “When will we see Volkanovski next?”

Timing is everything, fight fans, and during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Volkanovski was asked what many fans were thirsting for - and that is when or who is next for him. Volkanovski said he had a list of options, but informed Rogan that he will first need to go back home to have arm surgery. He made it be known that he will be back soon and reassured the fighting world that he still is eyeing the lightweight championship that he fell short of capturing at UFC 284 against Islam Makhachev.

Potential dates of when we could see AlexanderVolkanovski back inside the Octagon

Even with a surgery so minor there could be complications causing setbacks. Here are some potential dates of when we could see Volkanovski back inside the Octagon.

UFC 294: Oct. 21
Charles Oliveira might not be ready for a rematch with Makhachev at UFC 294, so this could be a quick rematch fix for the UFC as Volkanovski has been running through his division and said the surgery is minor and he could be ready for a fight in October.

UFC 295: Nov. 11
Volkanovski might have to take a back seat and slide into the co-main event slot with all hype that will surround the massive legacy fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

UFC 296: Dec. 16
The UFC might be holding their cards close to their chest with no headliner being announced for UFC 296, as they might announce after this season of the Ultimate Fighter that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will headline. Even if the Chandler vs. McGregor fight falls through, a safe bet would to put Volkanovski in the main event slot to defend his title and a fight with Ilia Topuria would be a great build up for fans.

Hopefully, we get another outing from Volkanovski before the end of the year as he is carving out what is an amazing legacy that could one day have him in the UFC Hall of Fame.
