Welcome to the UFC, Ivana Petrović.

Petrović will make her first walk to the Octagon on Saturday against UFC veteran, Luana Carolina (8-4). Petrovic is an undefeated fighter with six wins including five finishes (three KOs, two submissions), and will face the greatest challenge of her career. After winning the Ares Fighting Championship flyweight championship in September 2022 she defended her title in April by submitting her opponent via rear naked choke in the fourth round.

Petrović is fighting out of Norway and is in elite company as one of the few representing her country in the promotion. Reflective on her record, she is primarily a grappler who will look to take down Carolina and finish her by submission.

In her previous title bout in AFC, she secured multiple takedowns and controlled various positions threatening damage or possible submission. She earned her previous victory by having mount position, which resulted in ground and pound, and then her opponent transitioned into giving up her back until she flattened her out and submitted her.

As the newcomer with no defeats and facing an opponent who is yearning for a win, Petrović according to BetMGM is a (-225) favorite, meanwhile, Carolina is a rising underdog with odds at (+185) which are subject to change.

After two straight defeats, Luana Carolina looks to keep her UFC career alive

Carolina is on a two-fight losing skid and needs a win and a finish to get back on track, and looks forward to inviting Petrovic to a striking affair. Her last victory was back in 2021 when she cruised her way to a unanimous decision against Lupita Godinez and her UFC records consist of three wins and three losses.

In her previous fight in March she had a closely contested fight against Joanne Wood but came up short due to a split decision. In this matchup against Petrović, she holds the experience advantage by six fights and has an edge in the stand-up department, but gives up two inches in height and one inch in reach. A factor that plays into Carolina's favor is she has excellent takedown defense at 78 percent according to UFC Stats and throughout her career has only been submitted once.
