The UFC returns to the UFC APEX on Saturday, May 20 with a pair of ranked strawweights meeting in the main event in an attempt to climb up the stacked 115-pound rankings and continue to add to their legacy.
The No. 8 ranked strawweight Mackenzie Dern (12-3) will be looking to defend her spot in the top 10 against the woman with the most UFC strawweight fights, the No. 14 ranked Angela Hill (15-12) in a bout that really could go either way.
Dern is coming off a loss to Yan Xionan during UFC Vegas 61 and is 3-2 in her last five UFC fights. The prospect's hype has been slightly derailed since coming into the UFC as an undefeated jiu jitsu ace but a win over a historic name like Hill can put her right back on track.
Her opponent on the other hand is enjoying a bit of a renaissance in her career. It seemed that Hill's time at the world's premiere MMA organization was coming to an end following a three-fight losing skid. She has thankfully found another gear and is now coming into this fight riding a two-fight winning streak, the longest in her career since 2019.
An impressive win for either women gives them both a chance at a top five ranked contender and puts them one step closer to that elusive title shot.
