A potential future heavyweight title shot could be up for grabs when Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes collide in the main event of UFC Vegas 71.

Pavlovich, the No. 3 ranked UFC heavyweight, has been a finishing machine since his 2018 arrival to the UFC. After dropping his Octagon debut to Alistair Overeem, which remains the sole loss on Pavlovich's record, he has racked off first-round finishes of Marcelo Golm, Maurice Greene, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa.

Blaydes, ranked no. 4, has been consistently toward the top of the heavyweight contender ranks for years but has yet to get a title shot. Blaydes enters tonight's fight off three straight wins and victories in seven of his last eight fights. Blaydes most recently fought at UFC London in July, where his fight with Tom Aspinall ended in 15 seconds due to an injury to Aspinall.
