High stakes and intensity surround the UFC Las Vegas main event between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili.

Bad blood is in the air as the UFC invades The Theater at Virgin Hotels for UFC Las Vegas. It's the first UFC event in its home base to not take place at the UFC APEX or T-Mobile Arena since the TUF 28 Finale in November 2018.

The main event of the evening will feature a pair of heated rivals and top-ranked bantamweight contenders, as former champion Petr Yan takes on Merab Dvalishvili.

Though Yan previously held the UFC's 135-pound title when he defeated Jose Aldo at UFC 251, he's lost three of four since. Yan became the first fighter in UFC history to lose his championship on a disqualification when he fought Dvalishvili's teammate, current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, at UFC 259.

Yan would defeat Cory Sandhagen at UFC 267 to become interim bantamweight champion but lost to Sterling in their title unification rematch at UFC 273. Yan was last seen in action at UFC 280 in October, dropping a highly controversial split decision to Sean O'Malley.

After dropping his first two UFC bouts, Dvalishvili has won eight straight in the Octagon entering this bout. He most recently fought at UFC 278, defeating Aldo via unanimous decision in the legendary bantamwieght champion's last UFC bout.

In spite of being one of the highest-ranked contenders in the division, Dvalishvili has previously suggested he would not challenge for the bantamweight title so long as his friend and teammate, Sterling, holds it.

Here's how the whole card played out in Las Vegas.
