For the first time since failing to recapture the UFC featherweight title nine months ago, Max Holloway makes a return to the Octagon, as he takes on up-and-coming contender Arnold Allen in the main event of UFC Kansas City.

Holloway enters this fight off just two wins in his last five fights, though all three losses came to the same man — current UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

Holloway lost the title to Volkanovski at UFC 245 and failed to recapture the gold at UFC 251 and UFC 276. The time between his second and third fights with Volkanovski saw Holloway earn decision wins (and Fight of the Night bonuses) against Calvin Kattar and current interim featherweight champ Yair Rodriguez.

Allen is a perfect 10-0 in the UFC and has just a sole loss in his 20-fight MMA career so far. Allen, the No. 4 ranked featherweight, enters this fight off back-to-back TKOs, which included a first-round finish of Dan Hooker and a win over Kattar due to a knee injury.

RECAP: The Kansas City crowd wasn't exactly impressed by the fight which opened the card. But it was clear to fans and UFC commentary that Pudilova won, the judges didn't agree and awarded the split decision to Edwards.
