UFC Charlotte: Who is Tainara Lisboa?
Who is the debuting woman bantamweight Tainara Lisboa?
For a fighter entering the UFC as a newcomer, it doesn’t get any bigger then opening up the event with the first fight of the night as their debut.
UFC Charlotte will welcome a very dangerous woman bantamweight to the division as Tainara Lisboa will step inside the famed Octagon against the UFC veteran, Jessica-Rose Clark.
After signing with the UFC, Lisboa took to her personal Instagram and let the world know how her emotions began to take over as her MMA dream comes true.
Who is the “Thai Panther” Tainara Lisboa?
Lisboa’s combat sports career has seemingly been overshadowed by her loss to one of the GOAT of women’s MMA and former UFC flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, where Lisboa took a decision loss under Muay Thai rules at the young age of nineteen.
Lisboa could have hung up her combat sports gloves then and given up entirely, especially after another loss in her pro-MMA debut against Norma Dumont.
But instead, Lisboa has learned and perfected her craft - and let’s be real, any Brazilian fighting out of Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil has fighting in their DNA. As of right now, Lisboa’s MMA record stands at five wins, two losses - three of her victories by way of knockout. Lisboa is currently on a 3 fight win streak and now has momentum on her side after signing with the UFC, and hopes to keep her winning streak alive.
It is uncertain what will happen inside the Octagon for Lisboa at UFC Charlotte, but one thing is for sure - her journey has given women fighters who are looking to be world champion one day a story to get behind, as they can see that even when Lisboa experienced a loss early on in her career, it didn’t define her. It simply fuelled her fire and look at her now - she is making her debut in the UFC!
