For the first time in over half a decade, the UFC returns to Charlotte, North Carolina for another UFC fight night. On Saturday, May 13, the Spectrum Center will host a stacked card with a bunch of ranked vs. ranked matchups to celebrate their return to the 'Queen City.'
The main event pits a pair of heavyweight contenders on different paths in their UFC career. Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-4), a staple in the heavyweight division, defends his top 10 ranking when he faces the man who is carrying the most momentum in MMA's biggest weight class.
Jailton Almeida (18-2) is yet to taste defeat in the UFC and comes into his first main event riding a 13 fight win streak. With the two men having a combined 30 finishes from 31 bouts, it'd perhaps be the shock of the year if this fight ends up going the full 25 minutes.
The co-main event promises to launch a title contender into the light heavyweight title talk, a contender that many fans will resonate with given how lengthy their UFC careers have been. Former title challenger and No. 5 ranked Anthony Smith (36-17) takes on the No. 7 ranked Johnny Walker (20-7) with either man hoping a victory gets them closer to champion Jamahal Hill in the pecking order.
