4. Yair Rodriguez's time to shine

Yair Rodriguez has been with the UFC for close to a decade and, in that time, he has racked up quite the resume. Rodriguez has faced opponents such as Dan hooker, Frankie Edgar, and BJ Penn amongst many others. Over the course of time, Rodriguez has perfected his craft and is undeniably one of the most exciting acts of the featherweight division. Now, he holds the division's interim gold and has the opportunity to upgrade to undisputed status. UFC 290 will certainly be the biggest fight card Rodriguez features on, especially because he will be in the main event against one of the greatest featherweights of all time. All eyes will be on Rodriguez and there is no doubt he will put on his best showing.

3. Alexander Volkanovski's status as greatest featherweight

Alexander Volkanovski has gone through a majority of the UFC's featherweight division. With his reign as champion dating back to November 2019, Volkanovski has dominated in each and every bout he's been in. Volkanovski attempted to achieve double champ status by challenging UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, for the gold earlier in 2023. Though unsuccessful in his efforts, Volkanovski received overwhelming praise for his performance. 'The Great' has spoken on his goal to achieve records in the UFC's 145-pound division and the opportunity at UFC 290 puts Volkanovski right on-track to being the greatest featherweight in the UFC and beyond.
