See how MMA Twitter ripped the Kron Gracie vs. Charles Jourdain bout that opened the UFC 288 main card

We've come a long way since Royce Gracie dominated the early days of the UFC in the 1990s. But Kron Gracie seemed to try and turn back the clock when he took on Charles Jourdain in the opening bout of UFC 288.

Despite previous claims that he's improved his game in his four years away from the Octagon, Gracie didn't show it as he dropped the fight in a one-sided, boring decision.

After about 30 seconds of feeling out, Jourdain landed a four-punch combination on Gracie. Gracie managed to get Jourdain in a clinch against the cage, though Jourdain was able to get him off and land some more hard shots on him upstairs. Jourdain pulled guard on Gracie. Gracie escaped with about a minute left. Jourdain landed another combination before the end of the first.

After Jourdain started with the striking advantage in the second, Gracie managed to pull Jourdain into his guard. Jourdain wasn't troubled at all, staying on top and did some damage until there was just under two minutes left in the second. Gracie tried to get back inside for another clinch, but Jourdain continued to tee off. Gracie once again clinched Jourdain against the cage and pulled guard.

Jourdain started off strong in round three and even fended off an attempt by Gracie to pull guard. Eventually, it was rinse-and-repeat for Gracie.

And all it got Gracie was being swept on the judges' scorecards in what has to be one of the worst fights that will ever happen this year.

Prior to tonight, Gracie's MMA career saw him in Real Fighting Championship for his 2014 professional debut before three fights in RIZIN between 2015 and 2016. Gracie then fought in the UFC twice in 2019, submitting Alex Caceres before dropping a decision to Cub Swanson.

This win for Jourdain snaps back-to-back losses to Shane Burgos and Nathaniel Wood.
