For the first time since UFC 42 almost exactly 20 years ago, the UFC returned to Miami for a night full of intense action and memorable performances.

In the main event, Israel Adesanya regained the UFC middleweight championship and finally scored a victory over Alex Pereira, knocking him out in the second round of their matchup.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Gilbert Burns scored a unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal in a battle of welterweight contenders.

Following the fight, in front of his hometown, Masvidal announced his retirement from MMA after 20 years and over 50 fights in the sport, becoming one of MMA's greatest rags-to-riches stories.

Other noteworthy performances from this night came from Rob Font and Kevin Holland on the main card, as well as Joe Pyfer and the Kelvin Gastelum vs. Chris Curtis bout on the prelims.
