TUF 31: Who is Aaron McKenzie?
Meet Who is Aaron McKenzie ahead of his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter.
The Ultimate Fighter is back for season 31 and will feature, among others, former UFC and Dana White's Contender Series fighters looking for a second chance with the promotion. The coaches for the season will be superstar Conor McGregor and former title challenger Michael Chandler, who will meet later this year in the octagon. This season will consist of bantamweights and lightweights, one of those being the current LFA lightweight champion Aaron McKenzie, who is looking to make the UFC roster.
McKenzie went 8-3 as an amateur and turned pro in 2015. With a base in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, McKenzie fights out of former Bellator champion Rafael Lovato, Jr.'s school in Oklahoma City. McKenzie started off his pro career going 5-1-1 with all finishes before joining the Bellator roster and going 1-1 with the organization.
LFA lightweight champion Aaron McKenzie joins The Ultimate Fighter
After a stint with Bellator, McKenzie joined Legacy Fighting Alliance and would go 4-0 on his way to becoming lightweight champion. McKenzie beat TUF 27 runner-up Joe Giannaetti before getting a main event slot at LFA 104 against Brandon Phillips. After that win, McKenzie didn't fight again for a year but was awarded a title shot against Lucas Clay at LFA 128 where he captured the lightweight gold.
It has been about a year since McKenzie last fought, and will now join the TUF house where he has to win three fights to become the Ultimate Fighter. McKenzie was waiting around for the call from the UFC after winning the LFA title, but will now battle it out with seven other hungry fighters for that chance.
