Ian Garry predicts 'the fall of Daniel Rodriguez' at UFC Charlotte (Video)

Ian Garry plans to dominate Daniel Rodriguez and take the No. 15 ranking in the UFC welterweight division.
On May 13, Ian Garry will make his fifth Octagon appearance during the UFC Charlotte main card. Garry has been matched up against Daniel Rodriguez, who had his four-fight win streak ended by Neil Magny in November 2022. Although Rodriguez is a dangerous striker, the 25-year-old Irish-born fighter is confident he will get the job done in North Carolina.
“It’s gonna be f**king bad. I believe I’m far too fast, far too technical, and have far more tools in my bag than he does,” Garry said during his UFC Charlotte media day interview. “He’s getting older, he’s not as powerful, he doesn’t have that same pop as he used to have.”
Before suffering a setback against Magny, Rodriguez emerged as a potential welterweight contender after consecutive wins against Mike Perry, Preston Parsons, Kevin Lee, and Li Jingliang. The 36-year-old hopes to get back on track on May 13, but Garry thinks this is the beginning of the end for Rodriguez.
“This is the fall of Daniel Rodriguez. When you lose the way you’re gonna lose to me, you don’t come back from that. I’m gonna piece him up in every which way and make him hate that he was there,” Garry said. “I’m gonna absolutely f**cking smoke him, and there is nothing that he can do about it.”
Ian Garry believes a win against Daniel Rodriguez will lead to him being ranked
Rodriguez is the No. 15-ranked fighter in the welterweight division. Although the UFC rankings system can be unpredictable, Ian Garry is confident that a win against Rodriguez will lead to him taking his ranking.
“I believe that everyone will be talking about the fact that I have earned the top fifteen ranking in the world, and that’s what I’m excited for. This is me earning and achieving such a big achievement in my life, which is being ranked number fifteen in the world,” Garry said. “I have a whole road ahead of me to success and to that world title, so this is the start of the next journey.”
Garry last fought on March 4, defeating Song Kenan with a third-round TKO. Garry has solidified himself as a potential future title contender, but he still has a long way to go before fighting for UFC gold.
