Two of the best young stars in boxing are set to clash over the WBA (regular) lightweight world championship, as Gervonta "Tank" Davis puts the strap on the line against Ryan Garcia.

While still in their 20s, both men have risen up to become two of the most noteworthy stars in the sport. And in spite of the usual ways of boxing preventing some of the biggest fights from happening, the two will throw down tonight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Davis (28-0, 26 KOs), a southpaw out of Baltimore, is known as one of the most powerful hitters in the sport, let alone at 135 pounds. Combine that with how deft and dexterous he is in his movements and his trash talk, and we've got a highly talented fighter who has racked up wins and fans.

Then there's Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs), the orthodox boxer from California who racked up quite the amateur resume before turning pro in 2016 at just 17 years old. The one-time close friend of another star in this sport β€” Canelo Alvarez β€” Garcia will likely counter Davis's power with his own speed and technical ability in the ring, making for a very interesting clash of styles.

Both men have success in other weight classes as well. Davis was IBF super featherweight champion in 2017 but had to vacate the title after missing weight for his fight with Francisco Fonseca as part of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor undercard. He was able to win the WBA (super) super featherweight title in 2018 before his current run as WBA (regular) lightweight champion began with a 12th-round stoppage of Yuriorkis Gamboa in December 2019.

Since then, Davis has retained the gold against Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios, Isaac Cruz, Rolando Romero and Hector Garcia. Along the way, Davis also picked up runs with the WBA (Super) super featherweight title and WBA (regular) super lightweight title.

Garcia enters this fight off a sixth-round knockout of Javier Fortuna in July. Garcia previously won the interim WBC lightweight title with a January 2021 TKO of Luke Campbell, holding that belt for a few months.
