Conor McGregor fires back at Canelo Alvarez over recent comments about the former UFC champion.
Canelo Alvarez and Conor McGregor are trading verbal jabs in what fans hope could turn into a legitimate fight some day.
First, McGregor said he'd fight the Mexican superstar during a recent interview (h/t Marca).
"I'm a southpaw, John Ryder's a southpaw, Billy Joe Saunders is a southpaw - I've seen methods," McGregor said. "I've seen things I do, and I know he's waning. I'd fight Canelo no f***ing problem."
Then Alvarez was asked about the comments, which he claims he hadn't seen.
"The truth is I haven't seen what he said because I don't have my social networks on my phone right now, but I'll beat him with one hand on his back," he said while speaking to media at the unveiling of a statue at a wax museum.
McGregor didn't take too kindly to that.
"Canelo you little ginger sausage. I’d beat you with NO HANDS. Don’t forget," he tweeted.
McGregor is no stranger to calling out. and fighting boxers. He fought Floyd Mayweather in 2016. But he's supposed to be gearing up to fight Michael Chandler sometime this year.
Alvarez will be fighting again in September,
"Yes, I will fight in September, but I still don't know with whom or anything," he said. "Next week we're going to sit down and talk about it."
