The UFC struck gold the night that Nate Diaz got on the mic at UFC 241 and called out Jorge Masvidal, after defeating Anthony Pettis. That night, Diaz got the ball rolling as fans rumbled near and far about how amazing a fight between Masvidal and Diaz would be.

The UFC heard the buzz, made the fight, and went one step further by making this dream fight for the BMF 'Baddest Mother F---er' title.

Anytime you introduce a new championship, it has to be memorable - and the UFC knew the venue needed to be just as special as the fight for the BMF belt. The UFC locked down the mecca building of combat sports, by holding UFC 244 inside Madison Square Garden on Nov. 2, 2019.

When the dust settled from the excitement, it was Masvidal who earned a violent, bloody victory over Diaz to earn the BMF title due to doctors' stoppage.

It was unfortunate that the doctor decided the end of the fight, but the UFC had something pretty cool up their sleeve by having pro wrestler and action movie star Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson be the man who strapped the BMF belt around the Masvidal’s waist.

The resurrection of the BMF championship with Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje 2

The MMA community groaned a little when the BMF championship was resurrected after Madvidal retired. But Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje 2 is a fight that fit perfectly into the mold and was eventually accepted as the battle for the next BMF title.

If there was ever a championship designed for Gaethje, it is the BMF title. What a fitting way to crown the second BMF champion, with what was a perfectly timed head kick that solidified what fight fans have known for years  - that Gaethje is a bad mother f---er.
