16. Robert Downey Jr.

Of course Iron Man would be a fan of MMA that just makes sense right?

Actor Robert Downey Jr. has been sitting front row at UFC events for as long as we can remember, cheering on his favorite fighters and hobnobbing with other celebrities in the process.

But let’s just say that Downey Jr. has some of the more funny fighter run-ins than most celebs as he’s apparently been unrecognizable at least once.

Brian Ortega detailed the moment he met Downey Jr. — and had no clue who he was.

“I got a call. They’re saying ‘RDJ … RDJ,’ and they kept saying this ‘RDJ.’ I’m like, ‘Who’s RDJ?’” Ortega recalled to the media. “And they’re like, ‘Robert Downey Jr.,’ and I’m like, ‘Who’s Robert Downey Jr.?’ I didn’t want to say it, but I’ll say it now. I didn’t really understand because I barely follow sports and TV in general, that’s why. They said, ‘RDJ is gonna Facetime you.’ So I said I’m finally going to find out who this is. I get to Facetime and I’m like, ‘Holy (expetive)! It’s Iron-Man!’”

Apparently the pair bonded and are friends now!

Downey Jr. admits that he geeks out over the UFC, as he told BuzzFeed that during a live Q &A,

Downey Jr. also trains in martial arts, he picked up Wing Chun in 2005 which is connected to Jeet Kune Do, which was developed Bruce Lee.
