The biggest fight of 2023 so far is here and it's one that boxing fans have had marked on their calendars since its announcement. On March 25, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, a super-middleweight bout between the ferocious David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) and former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) is set to headline the massive pay-per-view event.
The fight has all the components of a true grudge match. Sure, the interim WBC super-middleweight title and a potential shot at the undisputed king of 168 pounds Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez are both on the line, yet it seems that these two just want to fight because they simply cannot stand each other. The trash talking between two of the best super-middleweights in the world has been spiteful and it doesn't seem like they are just putting on a show to raise pay-per-view number.
These two men legitimately hate each other and would wish nothing more than to knock the other one out in devastating fashion. This has a huge fight feeling around it and I for one cannot wait for the opening bell between two elite boxers who want nothing more than to rip each other to shreds.
