Bruce 'Shu Shu' Carrington scores an impressive 8th rd TKO victory over Luis Porozo at the Hulu Theater in NYC.
In the night's second fight, Bruce ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington (8-0) earned an impressive eighth-round TKO victory over Luis Porozo (16-7). Although it was early in the night, most of the crowd filled the Hulu Theater inside the Madison Square Garden in NYC to see their local fighter from Brooklyn put on a great performance.
In the first round, Carrington started the round with a nice left jab that was giving Porozo some trouble setting up. Carrington would also take a half step back and land a short straight right hand and right uppercut, which Porozo was unprepared for. Porozo was having difficulty picking up the left jab from Carrington in the second round and was getting punished to the body. Carrington was smart on the inside and was seeing Porozo’s punches coming allowing him to counter successfully.
Porozo kept Carrington off in the third round with the left and right hook to the body, but just when he thought he was getting a breather, Carrington would again put the pressure on him. Carrington was hard to deal with when in close range. Carrington felt that he had Porozo buzzed in the fourth round, so he applied a massive amount of pressure led by an overhand right. That punch and the right uppercut had Porozo in trouble. So much so that he kept looking at his corner to bail him out.

In the fifth round, Carrington wasn’t as sharp early in the round, which allowed Porozo to get some of his punches off. Carrington then started to stab his jab to the stomach of Porozo and finished it off with the overhand right. Carrington took the sixth round off, and Porozo was able to land combinations from mid-range, which is where he should have started if he wanted to find success against Carrington.
Carrington wasn’t as active in the beginning of round seven but finished it with flush combinations, which seemed to bother Porozo. Finally, in the eighth and final round, Carrington landed a straight right hand, and the referee jumped in and saw enough as Porozo would lose wide on the scorecards if the fight had gone to the final bell.
