Walt Harris admits 'USADA issue' caused UFC Vegas 77 fight cancelation
By Amy Kaplan
Walt Harris was just days away from making his return to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 77 before it was learned he'd been removed from the card. The UFC indicated to the media he was removed for a "medical issue" but Harris later announced it was a USADA issue.
The UFC heavyweight took to Instagram to explain what was happening.
"Hello to my fans," he wrote. "I wanted you to hear from me first that my fight has been cancelled due to an issue that just came up with my most recent USADA test."
"I believe this came from a supplement that I've trusted my entire career, but at the end of the day it was never USADA approved. I'm a complete idiot for not checking prior, but I'm definitely not a cheater."
Harris was supposed to fight Josh Parisian in the featured prelim on Saturday and part of his statement was addressed to him.
"I sincerely want to apologize to my opponent Josh Parisian. I was lookign forward to doing battle with you in the octagon. Once I get pass this if you're down I hope we can try again!"
And finally, he addressed the process moving forward.
"I am going to fave this head on while working with UFC and USADA and hope to have all this sorted out in the coming weeks. Thank you for the patience and support and I am looking forward to making this comeback very soon."
