In just his second bout in the UFC, Abus Magomedov is scoring a huge opportunity when he takes on a ranked middleweight contender in Sean Strickland as the main event for UFC Vegas 76.
Upon his return to the Octagon in late 2020, after a 2018 motorcycle accident forced him out of competition for two years, Strickland ran through competition, winning five straight. But he fell short of a middleweight title shot with back-to-back losses to Alex Pereira and Jared Cannonier. One month after the Cannonier fight, however, Strickland rebounded with a short-notice, light heavyweight main event with Nassourdine Imavov, winning a decision.
Magomedov, a veteran of the PFL and Superior FC, made his Octagon debut in September 2022, scoring a 19-second finish of Dustin Stoltzfus. It was his first fight in nearly two years after a win in the KSW, with UFC President Dana White previously claiming no one has wanted to take a fight with him.
