On Saturday, April 29, the UFC card features a battle of two surging bantamweights. No. 8- ranked Song Yadong takes on No. 10- ranked Ricky Simon, with each fighter looking to break into the crowded top 5 of the bantamweight division.
Yadong is a heavy-handed prospect fighting out of China. He lost his last fight to Cory Sandhagen via TKO (doctor stoppage) due to a nasty cut, but at only 25 years old, Yadong is considered to be part of the UFC's future at 135.
Across from Song will be Simon, currently riding a five-fight win streak. He submitted Jack Shore via arm triangle in his last fight at UFC on ABC 3.
It's a classic striker vs. grappler matchup, with Yadong more known for his striking and Simon regarded for his grappling skills.
UFC Vegas 72 also features a middleweight barnburner in the co-main event. Brazil's Caio Borralho takes on Poland's Michal Oleksiejczuk in a fight that promises not to go the distance.
Borralho is currently riding a 12 fight win streak (dating back to before he was in the UFC), coming off his unanimous decision victory over Makmud Muradov at UFC 280.
Across from him, Oleksiejczuk is coming off back-to-back knockout victories over Sam Alvey and Cody Brundage.
The action goes down from the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
