UFC fans, feast your eyes on the official UFC 289 promotional poster. Following a string of cancelled bouts and shifting fighters from one card to the next, the main event between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana is finally set, with Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush facing off in the co-main event.

Amanda Nunes vs. Irene Aldana headlines the UFC's return to Canada.
The UFC's first pay-per-view in Canada since 2019 was this close from potentially being cancelled. The main event was supposed to match women's bantamweight champion and G.W.O.A.T Nunes facing off against Juliana Peña with the title AND the trilogy on the line.
Peña was unfortunately sidelined with an injury and the whole pay-per-view was in jeopardy. Thankfully, the No. 5 ranked contender Aldana, who many fans thought deserved the title shot in the first place, was willing to step in what will be her first title fight in the UFC.
Aldana will be hoping to become the fourth different Mexican champion this year after Brandon Moreno, Alexa Grasso, and Yair Rodriguez. Nunes will be looking to make her second title reign as dominant as her first went prior to the shock loss to Peña.
The co-main event was an added bonus for UFC fans who were disappointed that Oliveira and Dariush was cancelled for UFC 288 after the former lightweight champion suffered an injury. A card who many thought needed a little kick of something get's exactly that when these top 155-pound contenders meet for a shot at champion Islam Makhachev.
