UFC 288 has one fighter who could land on the chopping block.

The UFC chopping block has come around once again, and even with a stacked UFC 288 fight card another competitor could find their way out of the company with a loss.

We are at the stage for the heavyweight division that there needs to be contenders salivating to earn a shot at becoming heavyweight champ, and with knock-out power these contenders rise up the ranks pretty quickly. Unfortunately Parker Porter has had six fights in the UFC and has not stood out to be the top guy.

This fight for Porter against Braxton Smith feels like the UFC is forcing a changing of the guard as they need to beef up a once-stacked division.

Smith has earned his right to fight for the company that has showcased many upper echelon heavyweights. With pure devastation he has forged a vicious path, leaving it undeniable that he deserves a shot in the UFC.

If Smith could land another devastating win to his record, it might be the beginning of something beautiful as the fans will be exposed to a fresh new destroyer.

The options for Parker Porter if cut from the UFC

If Porter is to be the one landing on the chopping block, he has many options. A return to Bellator is not off the table as his record sits at one win and one loss, so a return to help bolster Bellator’s developing heavyweight division could be in the future.

The PFL has a million reasons to sign with them; with their million-dollar tournament Porter could look at former UFC and PFL million dollar winner Sean O'Connell - after receiving the chopping block from the UFC, he fought his way to win a million dollars and have one of the greatest MMA storybook endings.

So if Porter is next on the unforgiving chopping block, it is nice to see a veteran have options if he is not ready to hang the gloves up.
