A huge grudge match is set to headline this weekend's UFC pay-per-view.
This Saturday, live from the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida, the UFC returns from a one-week hiatus to bring fight fans one of the most highly anticipated pay-per-views of 2023. UFC 287 sees middleweight champion Alex Pereira (7-1) make his first title defence against a man he has defeated three times across multiple combat sports, former 185-pound champion Israel Adesanya (23-2)
The matchup is an immediate rematch for Adesanya, who lost his belt and undefeated middleweight streak back at UFC 281 when he faced his arch-nemesis. Pereira has not only taken Adesanya's championship belt but he has the ultimate bragging rights, given he has knocked him out twice in their last two encounters.
A win for the champion cements his status as a legitimate force in the UFC roster whilst a victory for the challenger might see us head towards another epic UFC trilogy.
The co-main event promises to be just as explosive as the headliners. The self-proclaimed 'King of Miami' Jorge Masvidal (35-16) makes his return to the UFC octagon to fight in front of his home crowd for the first time in over a decade. If he wishes to walk away with his hand raised, he'll have to go through the extremely durable and tough Gilbert Burns (21-5). A win for either man might be enough for a shot at the champion Leon Edwards.
That, however, is far from all. UFC 287 is stacked from top to bottom and is almost guaranteed to provide excitement from the second it begins all the way until the colossal main event. It's one you won't want to miss.
