Who is the best welterweight in the UFC, if not the world of MMA? We'll finally get the answer to that question at UFC 286, when champion Leon Edwards and former champ Kamaru Usman square down one last time.
The pair first met back in December 2015, when Usman was making his UFC debut fresh off winning season 21 of The Ultimate Fighter. Usman used his wrestling to dominate that match and take a decision win.
The pair then batted with Usman as defending welterweight champion back at UFC 278 in August. It looked like Usman would cruise to a unanimous decision win before Edwards threw up a last-minute head kick that landed and knocked Usman out cold, giving Edwards the championship.
There is no love lost between the two, and they'll settle their score in Edwards's backyard.
UFC 286 marks the first time since UFC 204 in October 2016 that the UFC will hold a pay-per-view card in England.
The co-main event will see Justin Gaethje take on Rafael Fiziev in a pivotal lightweight bout. Gaethje was last in action at UFC 274 in May, coming up short against Charles Oliveira in a lightweight title bout. Fiziev, meanwhile, has won six straight since dropping his UFC debut, the only loss on his professional record to this day. Fiziev last fought in July, when he knocked out Rafael dos Anjos.
