TUF 31 Episode 8: Rico DiSciullo vs. Hunter Azure preview and prediction
Conor McGregor's emotions don't seem to reflect the sentiments of his team and opposition. There is growing accusations of McGregor not being a true part of the team. While these allegations can only be answered by Team McGregor, Michael Chandler is not holding back his beliefs.
Chandler's approach to TUF 31 has been the perfect balance of "two birds, one stone." While Team Chandler continues to dominate the tournament, it's obvious he's gelled well with the veterans. In addition, he is using his wins to not only promote his fight with McGregor, but to get under McGregor's skin. Both fighters are competitive and Chandler is using those emotions to his advatange.
The last quarter-final fight is between Rico DiSciullo and Hunter Azure. This is actually a great battle of big-name gyms in the United States, with Dsciullo representing Sityodtong and Azure representing Fight Ready. Both fighters come in with 13 pro fights but long amateur careers. In terms of rookie versus veteran, this has all the makings of a surprisingly close fight.
DiSciullo needs to stay on his bicycle to keep Azure moving
DiSciullo's creativity is his biggest weapon in this fight. Azure is a classic-style power wrestler with big power in his hands. In the past, Azure's style has taken it's toll over three rounds. If DiSciullo can keep the fight standing and use his footwork to make Azure work for all his strikes and positions, he has a good chance to try and finish this fight late or steal a round to force a third.
The great thing about Azure's game is it's safe, and if his cardio holds up, his big power shots or takedowns could help him secure a victory. He will need to win the position battles and force DiSciullo into uncomfortable positions.
The difference maker looks to be the speed and cardio. Azure should be the more powerful fighter, but DiSciullo looks fast and brings good boxing footwork. Those are the perfect skills to have to avoid the big power strikes and takedowns from Azure. While there is a lot going for Azure in this fight, there is a lot riding on DiSciullo to pull this one out. Based on the skill sets, he just might do it.
