A brand new season of The Ultimate Fighter is set to premiere on the 30th of May, and what a season it's shaping up to be. The show signals the return of the UFC's biggest star Connor McGregor, who we last saw in the octagon back at UFC 264, where he suffered a horrific leg break en route to a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. He will be coaching opposite of the extremely violent and entertaining Michael Chandler, who will be looking to gain one of, if not the, biggest wins of his long MMA career.
The season sees the return of some former UFC fighters who were deemed not good enough to remain in MMA's premiere organization and a group of hungry fighters hoping to cement their place in the UFC by becoming The Ultimate Fighter.
The show sees eight bantamweights and eight lightweights compete to do what the likes of UFC greats such as Nate Diaz, Tony Ferguson, and Kamaru Usman accomplished back when they were complete unknowns to fight fans, to become The Ultimate Fighter. One of the fighters hoping to etch his name in this historic list is 135-pounder Trevor Wells.
Who is The Ultimate Fighters' Trevor Wells?
One of the labelled 'newcomers' is Trevor Wells, a man who has compiled a respectable 8-3 record during his professional career. Fighting out of TeamQuest in California, perhaps what might be a disadvantage to the 27 year-old is that he has bounced between the flyweight and bantamweight division throughout his professional career, however, his bantamweight record is a perfect 4-0, making him one of the most dangerous 135-pounders to enter the TUF house.
He might not be the biggest amongst his competitors but his ability to grind out results, with six of his eight wins coming by way of decision, ensures that he has a lot of in-ring experience that can help him remain focused in what is surely to be a chaotic season of The Ultimate Fighter. He might not wow spectators with his fighting style but don't underestimate Wells.
According to Tapology, the California-born native was considered the number 1 flyweight in the whole state and even made it all the way to number nine of the best 135 pounder in California. He may not have the finishing credentials that we as fans enjoy to watch but make no mistake, Trevor Wells arrives in the TUF house as a dangerous opponent for anybody.
