Tom Aspinall defeated Marcin Tybura via TKO (strikes), Round 1 - 1:13 at UFC London on Saturday, July 22, 2023, live from The O2 Arena in London, England.
"It's been a really tough year for me. I'm back. My mind if different, my body is different and I'm going all the way. Marcin (Tybura) is a really good fight, he has won seven of eight. GIve him a cheer because he is really good guy. Give me that microphone Mike Bisping. I'm going to Paris to sit front row. I'm going to beat the winner then I'm going to beat Jon Jones," said Aspinall.
Aspinall landed a high kick in the opening seconds of the fight. Tybura looked slow in comparision to Aspinall. After landing a kick to the body, Aspinall was able to get out of Tybura's range. Aspinall made his return to the Octagon look easy as he dropped Tybura with a right elbow that he followed up with a two punch combination. Aspinall landed several strikes before referee Marc Goddard stepped in and stopped the fight.
Aspinall returned to the Octagon on Saturday, 364 days after his last fight. Aspinall suffered a knee injury 15 seconds into his fight against Curtis Blaydes in the main event. The injury forced Aspinall to the sidelines and stopped his momentum toward a title fight. Prior to the injury and loss to Blaydes, Aspinall scored finishes in his first five fights in the UFC.
Tybura arrived in London as the 10th ranked heavyweight in the UFC. The Polish heavyweight won his of his previous eight fights.
