Tim Tszyu continues to build stardom outside of boxing ahead of Carlos Ocampo fight on Showtime.

On Saturday night, Showtime Boxing returns to the “Land Down Under” as championship boxing will be hosted at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Australia. Interim WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu (22-0) will put his title and undefeated record against Carlos Ocampo (35-2). After some uncertainty about whether Showtime would host the telecast again, they announced during their last show that they would provide coverage of Tszyu’s next fight against Ocampo.

There is no escaping the fact that Tszyu is the son of a boxing legend Kostya Tszyu but in the last two years, the 28-year-old Tszyu started to make his mark in the sport and in the country of Australia. His father is considered royalty there, and now that Tszyu is winning these big fights, his fellow Australians are starting to gravitate toward him. After his fantastic win in March over Tony Harrison, the mainstream media began to really get behind Tszyu.

In May, he visited Hit Network’s national drive show Carrie & Tommy and had a “boxing match” with one of the hosts. The fight only lasted twenty seconds as Tszyu hit Tommy with a body shot which he couldn’t get up from. It was all fun and games but a significant part of the expansion of Tszyu’s brand. When asked about being on the show and bringing out a different side people aren’t used to seeing, Tszyu told FanSidedMMA,” During fight week, it’s all boxing, and you have that intimidating feel as you are ready to take on whoever. I guess there’s another side of you always, so I get to express that a little bit.”

Tim Tszyu vs. Carlos Ocampo will stream live on Showtime

As he headlines yet another card in his home country, Tszyu looks to once again put on the type of performance that will make his future fight with undisputed champion Jermell Charlo (35-1-1) one of the year's most anticipated fights. “It’s going to be one cracker of a fight. Two people going at it and another clear message sent to the undisputed champion.” One thing is for sure, it will be rockin' inside the arena on Saturday night as Tszyu looks to continue to build his stardom and the momentum of the undisputed title fight on the horizon.
