Terrance McKinney blasts referee after blatant fence grabs in loss to Nazim Sadykhov
By Amy Kaplan
Terrance McKinney suffered his second loss in a row when he tapped to a rear-naked choke in his fight with Nazim Sadykhov on Saturday's UFC Vegas 77 event.
In the fight Sadykhov was caught with his fingers in the cage multiple times, I direct violation of the rules, each time the referee pulled them out and the fight continued. Typically, if the grab happens again and again, a point is taken or a takedown is given if the grab stopped the takedown. Neither of those happened in the fight with McKinney and he's not going to let it slide.
On Sunday McKinney took to Twitter to vent his frustrations.
"Ok I lost but how many times do you get to put your fingers in the cage for leverage? The ref ain’t suppose to just swat your hand away they’re suppose to warn you and then stand you up if you do it again. He did it the first round too," he tweeted. "The same ref that didn’t give me my mouthpiece back during the Dober fight too, what happened to no non sense!?"
Several of the fans interacted with the post, and received responses back.
"You think you wouldn't have lost if those fence grabs in the video didn't happen?" someone asked, to which McKinney replied, "Yah I would got take down and controlled him I clearly had the grappling advantage"
Someone else replied, "You were gonna lose anyway, the gap in skill was just too big." To which McKinney said, "I dominated the entire fight until he grabbed the cage. Tell me more about that skill gap tho."
It seems that overall people seemed to support McKinney.
"Lot of people pointing out last night and today seems to be no reason to follow the the rules any more," someone tweeted. "One dude cheated not long ago, got stood up in a fight he was about to be subbed and got a KO win. You guys deserve better reffing and judging in a lot of cases."
At press time, McKinney's opponent has not replied.
