Teofimo Lopez dominates Josh Taylor with a 12 round unanimous decision victory over Josh Taylor.

It was a star-studded event at the Hulu Theater inside Madison Square Garden as 5,151 came out to see the main event between Teofimo Lopez (19-1) and Josh Taylor (19-1). The fight lived up to the hype, and when the judges’ scorecards were read, Lopez came out victorious as they saw this one 115-113, 115-113, 117-111

In the first round, Taylor rushed Lopez and then utilized his right jab. Lopez gauged it and began to counter with his right hand. Taylor then landed some short straight left hands as Lopez dipped to his right creating some offense for Taylor. It was a close second round as both fighters had their moments. Taylor was leaning on Lopez and also landing the overhand left flush while Lopez was getting into rhythm and landing counter shots of his own.

Lopez consistently landed the overhand left in the third round after Taylor threw his right jab. Taylor was warned by the referee for hitting Lopez after he had broken them up, which was the second warning from the referee of the fight. Lopez looked much more comfortable. In the fourth round, Lopez looked sharper and saw everything Taylor was throwing. Lopez rocked Taylor with an overhand right that lit up the Hulu theater in MSG towards the end of the round.

Taylor dictated the pace at the beginning of round five, but it was Lopez who finished the round with explosive counter shouts, especially the straight right hand. Taylor looked like the fresher fighter at this point of the fight. There wasn’t much going on from both fighters at the beginning of the sixth round, but towards the end, Lopez landed a hard straight right hand that seemed to have stunned Taylor. Lopez then proceeded to go after him, but the bell sounded, ending the round.

In the seventh round, Taylor got back into the fight in this round as he landed some hard counter left hands when Lopez got a little greedy with his offense. Again, towards the end of the round, Lopez landed a big right hand that again buzzed Taylor. Lopez was too quick on his defense in the eighth round, making Taylor miss a lot, and then there was a moment when Lopez landed a Superman left punch of sorts, which rocked Taylor.

Lopez landed big right hand after big right hand in round nine, and Taylor had no answer. Lopez’s confidence was sky-high as he did whatever he wanted in that round. Taylor had a look of concern on his face when he walked back to his corner. Although Lopez took the tenth round off, he still made Taylor miss almost everything he was throwing. Lopez was slick with his counter shots and defense throughout the round.

Lopez landed a straight right hand that hurt Taylor again in the eleventh round, and Lopez started to pound on him in the corner right before the sound of the bell. Lopez landed a hard right hand during the final round that nearly sent Taylor to the floor. Lopez finished the last round strong as the crowd went crazy for the performance he had just finished giving.
