Is Said Nurmagomedov related to former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov?

Said Nurmagomedov will step into the Octagon on Saturday for his eighth UFC appearance but people are still unsure about his lineage.

The Nurmagomedov surname is well-known within the MMA community thanks to Khabib Nurmagomedov who went undefeated before retiring. Since then several of the Nurmagomedov clan have paved their own way in MMA, such as Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov and UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov.

So it's not uncommon for fans to assume that Said would also be of "that" Nurmagomedov tribe.

But he's not.

After some initial confusion, Khabib cleared it up during an interview with BT Sport by saying they are not related.

Said will step into the cage on Friday against Jonathan Martinez in hopes of securing another win on his climb toward the title.
