Celebrities who train MMA: Charlie Hunnam

Charlie Hunnam is an English actor who made it big with his role on the long running show Sons of Anarchy. Hunnam played a tough biker who would fight and wasn’t afraid of anyone. In real life, Hunnam could hold his own in a fight. Hunnam has been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu under trainer to the stars Rigan Machado. Machado trains many stars at his gym in California.

Hunnam spoke a bit about his love for combat sports training in an interview with Men’s Health.

“It’s not even as much the physical benefit of training; it’s the mental,” he says. “When you’re training every day in a combat discipline, it just gives you that eye of the tiger. Then if someone acts aggressively toward you, I can run all the scenarios through my head—you know, like I’m going to step to the side and put an elbow through your face.”

Not only does Hunnam love fighting and training, he is a fan of watching fights too. Recently Hunnam told TMZ Sports that his dream would be to oneday fight Conor McGregor.

“I am a huge Conor McGregor fan,” Hunnam said. “I just got done filming a role where I got down to 145 pounds and in my mind I thought maybe I could fight Conor McGregor but I don’t think it would go too well for me.”

Although Hunnam won’t be stepping into the Octagon against Mcgregor anytime soon, he is continuing to rise up the BJJ rankings.
