Celebrities who train MMA: Skylar Astin

Skylar Astin in a very talented actor and singer. Starring in such movies as Pitch Perfect 1 and 2 and Wreck it Ralph, fans might not know the side of him that thirst for fighting. Astin is a huge MMA fan. He is active on Twitter reaching out to fighters and tweeting his fellow fight fans. He has been on The Fighter and the Kid podcast with Bryan Callen and former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub. He was even animated on an episode of UFC on Fox’s Fight Stories.

Astin uses his passion for martial arts to help him stay in shape for his movie and TV roles. He can often be seen posting social videos hitting mitts on his social media. His passion for the sport of MMA and boxing help in his training.

Being a public figure as well as a fan can create opportunities to hang out with the top athletes of the sport. In Astin’s case that includes former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman.

Astin can be seen at fight events on a pretty regular basis, whether it is a UFC Fight Night or the biggest fight in history, Mayweather vs. McGregor. Hanging out cage side has its perks such as meeting one of the biggest fight teams in MMA. That was the case when Astin joined Team Alpha Male run by Urijah Faber to a fight in the Ultimate Fighter gym.

Astin plays a wholesome guy on the big screen but with his training, he could hold his own in a fight. In the meantime, he will have to settle for acting like a fighter on a recent episode of his show  Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
