Celebrities who train MMA: Wiz Khalifa
Artist can come in all different shapes and sizes. An artist can be a person who paints, draws, sings, fights, raps, or all of the above. Many times singers and musicians can find passion in other forms of art, including fighting. On this list already have been numerous singers who have found a passion for mixed martial arts included now is rapper Wiz Khalifa.
Khalifa fell in love with MMA and it has changed his life. The 31-year-old rapper has been training kickboxing and MMA for about year and a half, and the change in his physical appearance has been noticeable. Khalifa said in a recent interview with Bleacher Report that he put on 35 pounds of muscle since beginning with training.
Khalifa credits his cousins for getting him his start in MMA, but now training with Jay Glazer, Khalifa has taken his skills to the next level.
“The first person I went to go see was Rigan Machado,” Khalifa told BR. “I did jiu-jitsu with him for like a month or two, which was cool. Then I started going to Unbreakable, which is a gym in L.A. That’s where I became a Muay Thai [fighter]…that’s when my mind changed to like, ‘OK, this is what I want to do.’ I like the conditioning. I like the stand-up aspect of it. I like the footwork.”
According to his trainer Glazer, Khalifa was serious skills and could turn pro if that was something that interested him.
“This is gonna sound weird, but Wiz is the only dude who has hurt me with body shots,” Glazer toldTMZ Sports. “Wiz got me in a body shot where he kept digging, and I was like, ‘I think Wiz Khalifa just freaking hurt me. You gotta be kidding me.'”
In 2021, Khalifa wrote a song for the Professional Fighter's League and performed it live during their 2021 championship event.
