Jorge Masvidal's father is under arrest for allegedly shooting someone at his son's home.
Jorge Masvidal is reportedly under arrest after allegedly shooting someone at his son's home during an argument. The news comes from Andy Slater (who also happens to be the man to break the news that Masvidal had assaulted Colby Covington).
The report says that Masvidal's home in Miami was "swarmed by cops" and Jorge Masvidal Sr. was taken into custody.
The police have yet to confirm the identity of the shooter or the victim.
“According to the victim, he was involved in an argument that escalated when the subject produced a firearm and shot him,” Detective Chris Thomas told MMA Fighting. “The adult male victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. All occupants of the residence exited the home where units took the subject into custody without incident. The relationship between all parties on scene has not been confirmed, however, all parties know each other. The listed owner of the residence is Jorge Masvidal Jr.. He was not present during the incident and did not have any involvement.”
TMZ reported that, according to police records, Masvidal's 67-year-old father is accused of shooting Luis Leoncini in the arms near the kitchen of Masvidal's home. He was arrested at 3:26 p.m and then booked just after 1 a.m. He's being charged with "attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon with a firearm." and a .38 caliber revolver was found inside a kitchen cabinet of the home.
Local 10 News, a Miami-area news station reported that the victim was "transported in stable condition with some injuries to the 'upper extremities'" and that Masvidal was seen arriving to the home after the incident occurred.
Masvidal was not at home at the time, according to reports, as he's away preparing for his Gamebred bare-knuckle MMA event which takes place on Friday, May 5.
