BREAKING: Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz official for August 5
Jake Paul will step into the ring with UFC superstar Nate Diaz this summer
After suffering the first loss of his professional boxing career, Jake Paul will look to rebound with a major money-maker of a superfight. Paul will face MMA legend Nate Diaz in the main event of an August 5 card at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Marc Raimondi of ESPN was the first to confirm the news.
Diaz had previously teased a move to boxing in his post-fight interview following his final UFC fight, which was a fourth-round submission of Tony Ferguson in the main event of September's UFC 279. Diaz hinted that his next step could include a move to boxing, threatening to "take over another sport" and "show fighters how it's done."
Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz confirmed for August 5 in Dallas
Diaz went 21-13 in his MMA career. While he didn't win any major championships, he was noted for being one of the more entertaining fighters, ending his UFC career tied for the most Fight of the Night bonuses with eight, as well as the third-most post-fight bonuses in UFC history and fourth-most submissions in UFC history.
Diaz won season five of The Ultimate Fighter.
Paul will enter this fight after a decision loss to Tommy Fury just a couple of months ago. Paul's boxing run has seen him face other former MMA fighters such as Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
