Fury vs. Ngannou news is bringing up old Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor wounds

MMA fans remember everything and they are the absolute best at dragging up the receipts at the absolute perfect time.

On Tuesday it was announced that heavyweight boxing king Tyson Fury and MMA heavyweight kingpin Francis Ngannou would meet in the boxing ring in what is slated as the biggest fight in combat sports history.

But we've heard that before.

The same thing was said when Conor McGregor, former UFC double champion at the height of him MMA career, stepped into the ring to face Floyd Mayweather. And that didn't turn out so well for McGregor.

The fans haven't forgotten.

"He’s not a boxer," someone tweeted. "we all seen what happened to mcgregor when he fought mayweather. It’s a Mickey mouse fight!

"It’s very much like Mayweather vs McGregor who cares unless the people making the money," another fan commented.

Fans also know that UFC president Dana White isn't going to allow Ngannou, who left the UFC on the moral high ground, get the upper hand.

And they think he's going to announce a McGregor fight any moment now.

Only time will tell if this fight lives up to the hype or ends up being a glorified light sparring day.
