Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford odds
On Saturday, July 29, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the sport of boxing will take center stage in the sports world when Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) and Terence Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) step into the ring for the undisputed welterweight championship.
The fight has been years in the making and anticipated by fans since Crawford first moved up to the welterweight division in 2018. The typical boxing promotional issues caused the fight to be continuously delayed for years, but now that it is taking place, thankfully, its significance hasn't waned.
Spence-Crawford will be just the 13th welterweight unification bout in boxing history. It will also be the third between two undefeated fighters. Outside of the heavyweight division, Spence-Crawford has the potential to be the biggest bout the sport has seen since Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao met in 2015.
While the attention the fight is receiving could bring in some blockbuster numbers, the winner will have a strong argument for being considered the number one fighter pound-for-pound in boxing.
"He's in his prime," said Spence at the celebratory grand arrivals in Las Vegas. "I'm in my prime. We are the two best fighters in the welterweight division. The winner of the fight on Saturday night will be the best fighter in boxing."
What are the odds for Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford?
Crawford will also look to make history by becoming the first male boxer to earn undisputed status in two weight classes. In 2017, Crawford stopped Julius Indongo with a body shot in the third round to win all four major titles at junior welterweight. Should he do the same against Spence, it will be on a much grander stage against an elite opponent.
"It's going to be even sweeter to win the undisputed championship for the second time," Crawford said at the grand arrivals in Las Vegas. "That's why we take the chances we take. That's why we fight the way we fight. This is a fight that the world's been craving."
With the spotlight on boxing, the undercard of Spence-Crawford will feature some solid action.
One of the top lightweights in the world, Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz, will take on the undefeated Giovanni Cabrera in a WBC and WBA lightweight title eliminator. Cruz is vying for an opportunity to rematch Gervonta Davis, to whom he lost a unanimous decision in December 2021. The more diminutive-statured Cruz fights in a Mike Tyson-esque style and can be counted on to be in a thrilling match.
Also, former four-division champion and future Hall-of-Famer, Nonito Donaire will get the opportunity to challenge for another world title against contender Alexandro Santiago for the vacant WBC bantamweight title. Lastly, in a battle of junior middleweight contenders to open the card, Yoenis Tellez will take on Sergio Garcia.
