The biggest grudge match of 2023 is finally here.
The stage is set for one of the most violent boxing matchups of 2023. Live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) puts his undefeated record and pride on the line against former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) in a fight that has seen the animosity between two of the best 168 pounders in the world raise to a whole new level.
It's no surprise that these two don't like each other considering all the trash talking they have done on social media and during their press conferences, which almost led to them throwing punches on multiple occasions such was the intensity. The interim WBC super-middleweight tittle might be on the line, as well as a potential matchup against undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, but make no mistake, both men are simply aiming to hurt each other as much as they can once the opening bell rings.
Benavidez has long been one of the most avoided fighters in all the 168 pound division due to his ridiculous power and volume. Plant is more a refined boxer than his adversary and despite having less professional fights, he can count on being involved in more championship fights than the younger Mexican boxer. Whether you like one more than the other, or hate them both, this fight is surely going to deliver a war where all the bad blood between them will spill.
