Dana White reveals which weight class will never be in the UFC
By Amy Kaplan
Dana White says this weight class will probably never come to the UFC.
On Wednesday night Dana White hosted his first-ever super heavyweight fight ... in slap fighting.
The two men who competed weighed in at 367 pounds (Dayne Viernes) and 461 pounds (Slap for Cash) and were reinforced by two of the world's strongest men. Accordign to White, the stage had to be reinforced and a backup podium made in case it was crushed. In the end, Viernes would KO Slap for Cah in the second round and nothing was damaged in the process.
But seeing a super heavyweight fight brought the idea of the possibility of the division coming to the UFC.
Unfortunately, White ended that thought when talking to FanSided MMA before the event.
"It's fun in Slap, but I don't think we'll see [super heavyweight] in the UFC," he said.
If you enjoyed the super heavyweights at Power Slap, White did say they would contuinue to utilize the division there.
