Bryce Mitchell thinks 'Middle Eastern money' was used to fix a recent title fight

UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell joins a growing list of fans and fighters who think Alexander Volkanovski won over Islam Makhachev at UFC 284.

It has been over a month since Alexander Volkanovski faced Islam Makhachev at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. While Makhachev won the bout via unanimous decision and retained his title, the outcome of the fight left fans furious. Many MMA fans around the world thought Vokanovski did enough to win the fight.

One such man who feels Volkanovski should have been the rightful winner is UFC featherweight, Bryce Mitchell. Shocked at how Volkanovski couldn't become a double champ in Perth, Mitchell made some strong accusations and expressed his displeasure.

While talking to Fanatics View, Mitchell accused someone from the Middle East of paying to have the fight rigged.

"That fight was rigged as f—k, dude... Makhachev brings in all that money from the Middle East. When you’re bringing in that kind of oil money and all that Middle Eastern money, bro ... Like, all the rich people in the world, they’re all from the Middle East. I guess they just f—kin’ paid the judges to — I don’t know."

Mitchell thinks Volkanovski was the rightful winner at UFC 284, but was wronged by the judges.

“I know Alexander Volkanovski won a decision," he said. "I don’t think nothing. I know he won and I know that s—t was rigged, and I’m not f—cking stupid. You can’t tell me that s—t wasn’t rigged. I’m not buying it. You can pay them judges whatever you want to pay ‘em. I know Alexander Volkanovski won that fight."

At UFC 288, Bryce Mitchell will face Jonathan Pearce

Since making his official UFC debut, Mitchell has had a great run in the UFC. Accumulating six straight wins since his debut in the promotion, Mitchell's future looked bright. However, a loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 282 has put Mitchell behind in his chase toward UFC gold.

Now, at UFC 288, the 28-year-old will look to follow up his loss against Topuria with a victory against Jonathan Pearce. Pearce who is on a five-fight win streak will be a tough challenge for Mitchell. And when these two get inside the cage, it will be the MMA fans who win.
