Bellator 293 fighter to watch is Sara Collins

Sara Collins is making her big-league debut at Bellator 293.
Bellator 293 won't feature the same amount of name value as fans have become accustomed to. Instead, Bellator 293 is giving the main event to the likes of 30-year-old rising heavyweight Marcelo Golm and 41-year-old journeymen Daniel James. Former UFC star Cat Zingano is on the card, taking on rising feather Leah McCourt in a bout that is intended to have title consequences. Outside of that, there are a few notable names, like John Salter and Adam Piccolotti, but this is a card for the diehards.
There are going to be a lot of new names on this card, and a lot of names people are going to want to see, and one of those names that we think has some potential is Sara Collins.
Collins, 31, is from Victoria, Australia, and is walking into just her fourth-ever career MMA fight. Collins isn't a pushover by any means, however. She's got a lot of layers to her game, starting with her Judo abilities. At one time she was a member of Australia's National Judo Team, something that led her to do CrossFit as a way of becoming a better Judokan.
This helped her land a spot on the team for the 2014 Judo Commonwealth Games. After that, she started training in MMA in 2015 and served as an assistant MMA coach to the Wimp to Warriors team while training. She'd eventually try her hand at Muay Thai in 2017, and not long after made her debut in MMA against Gase Sanita
at Hex Fight Series 19 in a win. She would rack up two more wins and head into her 2023 Bellator debut against veteran Pam Sorenson.
Sara Collins won't have an easy task at Bellator 293
The 36-year-old Sorenson is closer to the end of her career than the beginning but will prove to be a strong test for the debuting Collins. Sorenson lost her last two fights, unanimous decisions to Zingano and Arlene Blencowe, so a win is needed here. You can't go from losing to a top title contender in Zingano to losing to a debuting prospect and expect to be kept around.
Sorenson is a volume fighter and will look to pressure the action but Collins is pretty well versed in all facets of fighting, making a win for her very possible.
