5. 'Gods recognize gods' | UFC 196 | Jan. 2016
What happens when McGregor eventually meets his maker? Well, according to him, he’s already cool with the big man upstairs.
Earlier this year, during an interview with TMZ, McGregor declared “There’s not a man alive that can beat me, but Jesus ain’t alive, so I don’t fucking know. Maybe he could come back from the dead. I don’t know. I’d still whoop his ass.”
These words did not sit well with his then scheduled opponent, former lightweight champion and noted religious man Rafael dos Anjos.
“I think, when a guy say something like that, he has no respect for anybody” said Dos Anjos. “I’m just a single tool in Jesus’ hand and on March 5th, he will feel what a single tool in Jesus’ hand can do with him.”
McGregor to his credit, took this opportunity and ran with it.
“Me and Jesus are cool. I’m cool with all the gods. Gods recognize gods,” McGregor responded.
We see you Conor, we see you.
