Worst: Derrick Lewis

As much as it hurts to write anything negative about Derrick Lewis, his lack of wrestling has hurt him many times in the past.

Lewis has been taken down a total of 41 times in the UFC. Looking back at his last fight for example, against Serghei Spivac, Lewis was taken down six times in a 3:05-minute fight. He was submitted by arm triangle.

In his first title opportunity against Daniel Cormier, Lewis was taken down four times before being submitted in the second round via rear naked choke.

There have been times in his career that he has actually overcome being grounded multiple times such as his fight with Roy Nelson where he was taken down seven times but still wound up winning a split decision. As scary as Derrick Lewis is on the feet, the best strategy has been and will be to put him on his back where he is far less dangerous.
