4. Colby Covington

Love him or hate him, it is impossible to discredit the skills that Colby “Chaos” Covington possesses. Covington is a perfect example of weaponizing cardio. He does this by pushing a blistering pace through volume striking and wrestling.

Covington won a national junior college wrestling title in 2007 at Iowa Central Community College. Later, Covington transferred to Oregon St. University where he finished fifth at the NCAA tournament to achieve Al-American honors. He was also a two-time Pac 10 conference champion.

Covington has amassed 1:56:21 of control time in the Octagon. He has completed 67 takedowns in the UFC. Against Bryan Barberena at UFC Sacramento he completed a staggering 12 takedowns. He also scored in double digits against Robbie Lawler (10).

The name of the game for Covington is to pressure you against the cage and spam takedowns. He has the cardio to employ this style and it’s generally very exciting to watch.
