5 UFC fighters with the best boxing, and 1 with the worst
One of the worst UFC boxers - Kron Gracie
Now that we've got five of the best boxers in the UFC out of the way, it's time for what you've been waiting for - one of the worst.
The selection? Kron Gracie.
When the UFC began in 1993, everyone was a specialist. However, as the sport has developed, specialists have become rarer and rarer. Nowadays, most fighters are well-rounded.
Kron Gracie breaks that trend. If he was a video game character, all of his attribute points would be for his BJJ stats - leaving none for his boxing. While it's not surprising for a fighter sporting the name Gracie to be a BJJ phenom, Kron has not taken the steps to develop his hands.
At this point in his career, Gracie has a 5-2 record, with all 5 of his wins coming via submission. If you're in a fight with him, you can spend you're entire training camp drilling submission defense, because you're probably not getting punched much.
His fight against Charles Jourdain at UFC 288 is a perfect showcase of Gracie's approach to MMA. Get close, pull guard, and try to hunt a submission. Of course, that's easier said than done - especially if you don't have the boxing ability to set up takedowns to seek those subs. Jourdain ended up beating Gracie via unanimous decision in a fight where Gracie pulled guard more times than he landed punches.
