Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko 2 | UFC 215

Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko are considered the two best female fighters of all time. Before Shevchenko’s flyweight dominance in the UFC, she was making her way through the bantamweight division early in her UFC career.

What stands out the most is Shevchenko’s resume. After defeating Sarah Kaufman in her UFC debut, Shevchenko would fight Nunes for the first time in her second UFC fight. She lost the fight via unanimous decision, but went on to win her next two fights against Holly Holm and Julianna Pena. This would set up a rematch with Nunes for the bantamweight title.

In a closely contested bout, Nunes would go on to win again, but this time, via split decision. Shevchenko believes she did enough in that fight for the win, and would use that motivation to become one of the greatest female fighters in MMA history.

Most recently, both Nunes and Shevchenko lost their belts to Pena and Alexa Grasso, respectively. If that did not happen, one would argue that a third fight between the two greatest female fighters of all time would be next on the docket. Without question, there is still a chance they fight one more time before their careers are over.
