2. When was the first BMF title fight?
The fight was officially made for UFC 244 which took place on Nov. 2, 2019. The event itself was a milestone event for the UFC as it marked the 500th live event for the company. It also marked the first time a sitting United States President had attended a UFC event when Donald Trump showed up for his friend Masvidal.
Masvidal would be awarded as the first-ever BMF champion after Diaz was not cleared to resume the fight after round three due to a nasty cut.
At the time White insisted the BMF was a one-and-done event and the belt would remain with Masvidal even if he lost his next fight.
